Ms. Yonitte Ryger
The Julliard School

The daughter of a former concertmaster of Jerusalem Philharmonic, Yonitte is also a third generation Juilliard trained musician. She began soloing with orchestras as the age of 8 as was admitted to the Juilliard School of Music a year later. In a total of 9 years of study at Juilliard, she served as concertmistress for several, as well as winning the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Competition for the Performance of Contemporary Music. Yonitte also performed, studied, and soloed at the elite Keshet Eilon Violin Mastercourse in Northern Israel, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Mozarteum Festival in Salzburg, Austria. She then immersed herself in academics at Columbia University, studying geoscience and psychology and began working with autistic children doing behavior modification and teaching life skills.

Yonitte's current interests are diverse! She passionately adores working with children of all kinds and ages and in all contexts. Although Yonitte has and does teach a fair handful of young violinists, you may also find her teaching SAT prep or in an elementary school, teaching creative writing to a small group of "gifted" 3rd graders, or working with the no-less-gifted students labeled "learning disabled" because their particular learning style is not addressed by our educational system. She can also be found playing on the stage at the Radio City Christmas show, playing a touring Broadway show, soloing with a fine orchestra, playing principle 2nd violin in Orchestra New England, or doing a project with the world's foremost contemporary composers, and she's particularly excited these days about a psychology research project that looks at peoples' learning profiles and improving peoples' ability to learn. On Saturdays, and sometimes during the week as well, you can find her at New Song Studio, where she loves the environment and the people!
