Ms. Li-Chia Yang

Native of Taiwan, Ms. Yang received training in classical piano starting at age 4, flute at age 8. As a young musician, Li-Chia participated in numerous student competitions for both the piano and the flute, and won First Prize for the first time in 1991.

Beginning in high school, Li-Chia gave solo recitals each year. In 1995, she was selected to represent the school to perform in chamber ensembles and orchestra in Paris, France and Saltsburg, Austria.  She was also selected to be the principle flutist in Soochow University’s school orchestra, which presented annual concerts in National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. Ms. Yang participated in numerous master classes with world classical flutist, such as James Galway and Maxence Larrieu. She was also admitted to festivals such as the music camp in Niece, France in 1999 and Bowdoin College, Maine in 2000.

After graduating from Soochow University with a Bachelor’s degree in music performance, Ms. Yang decided to pursue further education at Columbia University’s Teachers College for Master of Arts degree and Master of Education degree in Music and Music education.

While studying in Columbia University, Ms. Yang was invited to perform for school organization events in 2002 and 2003 with Professor Mary Barto, pupil of Julius Baker, a premier American flutist, from the Julliard School. Yang also studied with Carol Wincenc, former flutist for New York Philharmonic.

Ms Yang started her teaching career with New Song Studio in 2003
